Hi, I’m Jana.
I’ve always been a traveler at heart, and sending letters has been part of that for as long as I can remember — a way to stay connected, to share pieces of life, love, care, and stories through written words.
I wrote my first letter when I was six years old. I was away at summer camp writing home to my parents. And when they mailed me a letter or a small package back, it felt magical. The waiting, the anticipation… I would gobble up every word with my eyes and sleep with the letter under my pillow afterward. Holding it close made them feel closer too.
As I grew older, I moved abroad several times and continued writing letters to the people I loved back home. No matter where I lived, handwritten words always felt more personal, more lasting.
Now I live in the USA while my family is still in Europe. Living far away from the people you love can sometimes feel lonely, but I never stopped sending letters and cards. Email is wonderful, but my old soul longs to create something slower and more meaningful — an experience.
To open the envelope.
To unfold the letter.
To pause for a moment and read.
To have something to hold onto and keep.
That feeling is what inspired The Minimalist Mail Club.
I hope these letters make you feel the same way I do whenever I receive one — seen, connected, and a little less alone.
